Welcome back to the Potty-Training Toddlers Newsletter brought to you by Potty-Training Toddlers - Real Tips from Real Parents

Consistency is crucial for successful potty training. This week, we'll help you create a daily routine that works for your family, making potty training a smoother process for both you and your child.

Why a Schedule Matters:

A consistent routine helps your child feel secure and builds confidence. Regular potty trips can help prevent accidents and reinforce the association between the urge to go and using the potty.

Building Your Potty-Training Schedule:

Create a Consistent Potty Routine:

  • Morning: Start the day with a potty break.

  • Post-Meal: Offer potty breaks after meals, especially breakfast and lunch.

  • Before Nap: Ensure your child uses the potty before nap time.

  • Bedtime: Include a potty break in your child's bedtime routine.

  • Regular Intervals: Schedule potty breaks every 1-2 hours throughout the day.

Morning Routine ☀️:

Start each day with a potty trip as soon as your child wakes up. Incorporate potty time before breakfast to establish a regular habit early on.

Afternoon Routine:

Offer potty breaks after snacks and lunch to help your child associate meals with bathroom trips.  Before outings or activities, add a quick potty break to prevent accidents.

Nighttime Routine 🌙:

Build potty time into your pre-bedtime routine. Whether it’s after bath time or before story time, make it a relaxing, predictable part of winding down for the night.

Benefits of Routine:

Predictability helps your child feel in control of the process. It reduces accidents by offering regular opportunities to use the potty. Making potty-training part of daily life, helps it feel less like a task and more like a habit.

How to Adapt the Routine:

  • Daycare Coordination: Share your child's potty-training schedule with their daycare providers to ensure consistency.

  • Flexibility: Remember, accidents are normal. Stay flexible and adjust your routine as needed.

💡 A potty-training watch always a fun and independent way for your child to be reminded that it’s time to use the potty. We have done the research and this is the top-rated potty-training watch that you can find easily on Amazon. It comes in several colors so you can grab your child’s favorite color and they are water resistant. You can find our recommendation here.

Tip of the Week: Make potty training a part of your child's daily routine—whether it's before a favorite show or after a snack. A consistent routine makes the process predictable and easier for both of you.
